CAREER

Dr. Silverstein has more than thirty years of experience in all aspects of intellectual property practice, including the preparation, prosecution, litigation and licensing of patents, trademarks and copyrights.

Dr. Silverstein earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, a J.D. degree from Cornell Law School, and M.A.L.D. and Ph.D. degrees from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.

A former examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Dr. Silverstein also holds the position of Professor of Business Law at the Suffolk University School of Management where he teaches such courses as Legal Protection for Product Innovation. He is widely published on intellectual property-related topics and frequently addresses academic, business and legal audiences.

During his years of practice as a patent attorney, Dr. Silverstein has been involved in a wide range of technologies including petrochemical/hydrocarbon processing, pollution control and chemical emissions reduction, water purification including electrodialysis and osmosis, medical devices using specialized polymers, instrumentation for detecting water impurities at very low levels, and unit operations in the manufacture of biotechnology products.
